CoolSculpting vs Zerona

CoolSculpting vs Zerona – Beverly Hills | Los Angeles

CoolSculpting vs ZeronaMany people are bothered by the stubborn fat pockets in specific areas of their body, such as the thighs, hips, abdomen, shoulders, arms, neck, and calves. If these fat deposits do not respond to diet and exercise, an individual may choose between surgical and non-surgical aesthetic treatment options to achieve the desired body contour.

CoolSculpting and Zerona are two of the popular non-invasive treatment options to get rid of unwanted fat pockets. While CoolSculpting makes use of a unique cooling technique to freeze the fat cells, Zerona employs laser technology to reduce unwanted fats. Both treatment options are applied above the skin. Dr. Gary Motykie provides these treatments to his patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and nearby areas.

CoolSculpting

The head of the scientific advisory board of Zeltiq, the company that has introduced CoolSculpting, Jeffrey Dover, says that the ideal candidates for this procedure are people who have a moderate body weight, but suffer from localized fat pockets which they wish to have removed. The results are particularly fantastic for women who have bulges of fat left over from earlier pregnancies, despite following a regular diet and exercise regimen.

CoolSculpting does not involve anesthesia, and the patient is seated comfortably in a chair. The technician focuses a cooling suction device over the targeted area. The freezing temperature destroys the fat cells, which get eliminated from the body gradually as they disintegrate. Full effects of CoolSculpting usually appear within two to four months. Mild pain, bruising, and redness in the treated area may be experienced for the first few days following the procedure. A single treatment may take about one hour, but some patients may need multiple treatments to achieve the desired results.

Zerona

Zerona is also a non-surgical treatment that makes use of a laser beam to lose fat cells. A series of six treatments may be performed in most cases over a period of two weeks in the doctor’s office. A single treatment may take about 40 minutes. Steve Shanks, president of Erchonia, the manufacturer of Zerona, says that Zerona has no side effects, no allergic reaction, no bruising, and the procedure is practically painless.

Zerona’s clinical trial conducted for the FDA found that the treatment managed to reduce about 1 to 1.5 inches from each of the treated areas, including the thighs, waist, and hips. Both CoolSculpting and Zerona have earned FDA’s approval, but neither of the treatments has been tested on areas such as upper arms or the neck.

Which is better?

It is difficult to determine authoritatively which one of CoolSculpting and Zerona is a better body contouring treatment. The needs of each patient are unique, and the operating doctor may be in the best position to recommend the most appropriate treatment option. Zerona focuses on the measurement of the inches of fat lost, while CoolSculpting focuses on measurement of the percentage of fat lost.

The advantage from a patient’s point of view is that there are two major choices available in terms of non-surgical fat reduction techniques. A patient can make an informed choice in close consultation with the doctor.
