Can CoolSculpting Help Me Lose Weight?

Can CoolSculpting Help Me Lose Weight?CoolSculpting is the #1 non-surgical body contouring treatment for patients seeking to reduce stubborn fat. Although this treatment can help target and remove fatty deposits, it is important for patients to understand the difference between body contouring and weight loss treatments. During your initial consultation, your treatment provider will explain the difference between these and answer any questions you may have. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides CoolSculpting to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved treatment that helps break down excess fatty deposits without surgery, anesthesia, or downtime. CoolSculpting uses cryolipolysis technology to “freeze the fat” in treated areas, allowing stubborn fat to break down and be naturally absorbed by the body over time.

Treatment

Treatments are performed in office and take approximately one hour to complete, depending on the area.  During your procedure, your provider will attach the CoolSculpting applicator to your treatment area(s). The device then vacuums the skin above the desired treatment area into the applicator and brings it to freezing temperatures, cooling and freezing the fat cells. Patients should expect to feel a cooling sensation, but most patients report that CoolSculpting is fairly comfortable and read a book or watch a movie during treatment. You may resume normal daily activities immediately after.

Fat Reduction vs Weight Loss

CoolSculpting is a fat reduction treatment and is not a solution for weight loss. CoolSculpting reduces fat deposits in treated areas 20-26%, and is ideal for fat in targeted areas of the body that is resistant to diet and exercise. CoolSculpting is not intended to help patients lose weight.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Ideal CoolSculpting patients are those who wish to target fat in specific areas of the body, such as the under arms, the lower belly, thighs or flanks. CoolSculpting can be used virtually anywhere on the body, but will not tighten or reduce excess skin the patient may be left with. Patients that wish to improve the appearance of excess or sagging skin in addition to reducing fat should discuss this with their provider to explore other treatment options. CoolSculpting is perfect for patients that wish to treat stubborn fat non-surgically, without anesthesia or downtime. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides CoolSculpting to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.
