Does CoolSculpting Hurt?

Does CoolSculpting Hurt?CoolSculpting is the most popular non-surgical treatment used to reduce stubborn fatty deposits from virtually anywhere on the body. During your procedure, you will feel an intense cooling sensation in the treatment area, but CoolSculpting should not be painful. Most patients report feeling fairly comfortable and reading or watching a movie during their treatment. During your initial consultation, your treatment provider will tell you exactly what to expect from your procedure experience. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides CoolSculpting to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved treatment for fat reduction without the need for surgery, anesthesia, or any kind of recovery time. CoolSculpting uses cryolipolysis technology to freeze fat cells in the targeted areas, letting them break down and be naturally removed by the body over time.

How to Prepare For Your Treatment

Before undergoing CoolSculpting, you’ll want to have a consultation with your provider to discuss your goals and determine if CoolSculpting is right for you. CoolSculpting is not a weight loss treatment and will only reduce stubborn fat from targeted treatment areas. On your treatment day, you’ll want to bring something to occupy your time with, such as your phone, tablet, or book. It is recommended that you wear loose, comfortable clothes and eat something light before your procedure to prevent nausea.

Treatment

CoolSculpting is performed office and usually takes about one hour to finish, depending on the area(s) being treated. During the procedure, your provider will connect the CoolSculpting applicator to the area to be treated. The device then suctions the skin in the treatment area into the applicator and brings it to freezing temperatures, cooling and freezing the fat cells. Patients should expect to feel a cooling sensation, however, most people say that CoolSculpting is fairly comfortable. After the treatment, you may resume your usual daily activities straight away. Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides CoolSculpting to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles, and surrounding locations.
