What to Expect During CoolSculpting?

What to Expect During CoolSculpting?CoolSculpting is one of the most popular non-invasive body contouring procedures in the US today. This FDA cleared procedure is designed to freeze the fat cells in targeted areas of the body and cause their gradual elimination. Fat bulges in the thighs, buttocks, abdomen, flanks, breasts, back, and chin can be reduced with CoolSculpting.

During the initial consultation, the treatment provider will explain the benefits of CoolSculpting and discuss how the procedure will be performed.

They will also inform how this technique enables a patient to lose fat without any cuts, incisions, injections, or medication. Committed, tremendous, and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Motykie provides CoolSculpting to patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles CA, and surrounding communities and cities in this part of the nation.

Customized Treatment Plan

The CoolSculpting provider will closely work with the patient to create a customized fat reduction plan tailored to their needs. Some patients may only require a single office visit to achieve their body contouring goals. Multiple CoolSculpting applicators are available, which may be used for different areas to create safe and effective fat reduction.

Many patients may want to have more substantive fat elimination, and their customized treatment plan will include multiple treatment sessions. For instance, if the patient wants to freeze the fat off their inner and outer thighs, and also get rid of the muffin top, they may go through two or three treatment sessions to address each body area separately. With advanced CoolSculpting applicators, each treatment session may only last for about 40 minutes.

Experience During the Treatment

Unlike surgery or heat and laser based procedures, CoolSculpting is a more gentle technique, where the patient can lose fat in a completely comfortable, non-invasive way. The procedure involves a unique cooling process, where controlled cooling will be delivered through an applicator to freeze the unwanted fat cells.

Initially, the patient may feel a little chilly, but this feeling will quickly subside as the area to be treated becomes numb. The applicator will typically involve a vacuum to draw fatty tissue into the applicator cup. Therefore, the patient is also likely to experience mild pulling, tugging and pinching in the affected sites.

The procedure will cause no pain and will not require anesthesia. Many patients, in fact, read, watch TV, surf the Internet or even take a nap during the treatment sessions. The provider will encourage them to do what makes them feel more comfortable while the treatment is in progress.

Recovery

CoolSculpting involves no specific recovery process or downtime, and most patients can simply return to their normal routine or go back to work after the treatment session. However, some of the mild and temporary side effects following the treatment may include redness, swelling, bruising, blanching, firmness, tenderness, cramping, aching, itching or sensitivity in the treated sites.

If CoolSculpting has been performed to treat fat tissue in the submental region under the chin, some patients may experience a sensation of fullness in the back of the throat. Patients will usually not require any specific treatment, and the side effects will resolve quickly.

Experienced and accomplished plastic surgeon Dr. Motykie receives patients from Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles CA, and other neighborhoods and suburbs in this part of the state for CoolSculpting.
