Patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Los Angeles may review before and after photos of actual patients at Dr. Motykie’s office to understand what they can expect from procedures such as Botox or CoolSculpting.

What is Botox Treatment?

The main ingredient in Botox is botulinum toxin, which is powerful enough to cause a temporary paralysis in a muscle when used in very tiny and highly diluted form. This unique property of this toxin helps achieve medical and cosmetic benefits. After extensive research, studies and trials, the FDA approved Botox to treat medical problems such as involuntary eyelid spasms, excessive underarm perspiration and chronic headaches and migraines. In 2002, the FDA approved Botox for the first time for a cosmetic purpose of reduction of frown lines on the forehead.

Finally in 2013, Botox has won another cosmetic treatment approval for the reduction of crow’s feet. Botox medication is injected directly into a muscle that has become overactive and is causing a wrinkle. The toxin works immediately to paralyze the muscle temporarily. Once the muscle is relaxed, the wrinkle or line disappears or fades away naturally. When crow’s feet are reduced with Botox, the eyes can appear more rested and refreshed. Before and after photos of previous patients can help a new patient understand the real benefits of Botox more clearly.

Benefits of Non-surgical Treatments

People in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles and other areas, who are unwilling or unable to opt for an elective cosmetic surgery, have an excellent option in the form of non-surgical treatments such as Botox and CoolSculpting. These non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments offer various benefits, including the following:

  • The treatments are safe, proven and approved or cleared by the FDA for cosmetic purposes.
  • Duration of the procedure is usually shorter than that of a typical surgery.
  • The treatments are ideal for busy mothers and working professionals who are unable to spare much time for a detailed or extensive surgical procedure.
  • Procedures such as Botox and CoolSculpting do not require the need for anesthesia.
  • Minimal pain or discomfort is reported by most patients who undergo such non-surgical procedures.
  • Recovery period is negligible, and patients can be ready to go back to work almost immediately following the treatment.
  • Risk of side effects and complications that is usually associated with a surgery is entirely avoided.

Botox Test Study by Allergan

Allergan, Inc., an Irvine, CA based drug manufacturer is the producer of Botox. Allergan conducted a scientific study to evaluate the specific cosmetic benefits of Botox in removal or reduction of crow’s feet. Crow’s feet, which are clinically known as lateral canthal lines, can make a person’s eyes appear old or tired. Allergan treated a group of 833 adult participants with Botox to reduce the appearance of crow’s feet.

Another group of participants that did not receive the treatment was compared with the group that was treated. The results showed a marked reduction in crow’s feet for the group that received the treatment. The results of this study contributed to the evidence that FDA considered while granting the approval to Botox for treatment of crow’s feet.

Not Permanent

The FDA has formally stated that Botox is an effective but temporary treatment for the reduction of wrinkles that form around aging eyes, which are commonly known as crow’s feet. However, patients in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Los Angeles and other areas who may receive non-surgical treatments such as Botox should be aware the results are temporary, and may last for three to six months. The advantage with treatments such as Botox or CoolSculpting is that these procedures can be repeated in the future to extend their benefits.
