A slim body is a dream that celebrities and non-celebrities, both have. It makes you look fit, smart, healthy and you feel great about yourself and feel comfortable in your skin. However, it is easier said than done. It is not that we don’t want to have a shapely self, but sometimes our internal and external circumstances make it impossible to attain what we want.
To break through our barriers, sometimes we need additional help and that’s where cosmetic solutions come into the picture. The latest technique approved by FDA is called CoolSculpting by ZELTIQ. Dr. Gray Motykie, a Beverly Hills surgeon is surprised by the results shown by CoolSculpting. He has had a surge of patients asking for the treatment in person at his offices in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood and Los Angeles California.
What is CoolSculpting?
It is a fat reduction procedure and is a great alternative to invasive techniques to reduce the fat. This technique is being considered superior to existing invasive and non-invasive procedures.
CoolSculpting vs. invasive procedure
All surgical procedures are invasive, so whether it is abdominoplasty or liposuction, it involves getting under anesthesia so you don’t feel the pain of the knife. These procedures have risks just like all other surgeries have and they require a lot of downtimes as the procedure and recovery, both are long drawn. The changes produced are stark and sometimes can overwhelm the patient.
CoolSculpting uses a cooling mechanism that does the same thing, but without inducing sudden overwhelming changes. It doesn’t involve painful incisions like in liposuction to suck the fat out or in case of tummy tuck surgery, where large cuts are made so fat can be removed physically. CoolSculpting does so by freezing the unhealthy fat without harming the healthy tissue.
CoolSculpting vs. non-invasive procedure
Most of the non-invasive procedures in the market like laser, ultrasound and so on are heat based procedures where chances of burns are high. They also tend to impact the healthy tissue surrounding the fat. CoolSculpting on the other hand uses freezing or cooling mechanism to cut down the fat cells at the same time preserving surrounding healthy tissue. It must be noted that though CoolSculpting is a recommended procedure for people who have ideal BMI, but stubborn fat deposits in certain parts of their body, which just refuse to melt even when they workout or eat healthy, so it is not a weight loss procedure. It is rather an aesthetic procedure.
What happens during CoolSculpting?
A patient undergoing CoolSculpting will experience intense cold and pressure on the area which is being treated for fat deposits. However, it is felt only for a few minutes. You can catch up on sleep, watch TV, listen to your iPod or read a book while the procedure is done. A single session can last from 1 to 3 hours. It doesn’t require any downtime so you can go back to work as soon as you are done. Numbness and redness are reported side effects.
